Bakery Galleries

Our bakery started in Hilde's kitchen because of a need for wholesome, hearty breads. In 1974, the Basket Bakery opened as a small wholesale kitchen. All recipes were developed in-house. Hilde searched for all natural, local ingredients to use in the products. In her search for unbleached, untreated flour and whole grains, she found what she was looking for at a health food store in Stone Mountain Park. The Grist Mill ground wheat and rye to her specifications. As demand grew, the business developed into a full-service bakery.

Our hearty breads include a wonderful, zesty Bauernbrot, Multigrain Bread, reminiscent of German Pumpernickel, and a dozen more whole grain and mixed grain breads. There are more than 25 flavors of cakes and tortes to choose from. Many can be created into cakes for all occasions and beautiful wedding cakes. The French pastry line, pies, and cookies are endless with many seasonal specialties. We still hand roll our Danish dough and make our own fillings for coffee cakes and Danish pastries. Wedding Cakes	This is such an exciting time for you! It is also a lot of work to get all the right people lined up tomake your special day truly festive. Baskets	Baskets are appropriate for almost any occassion. We have a wide assortment of arrangements that are sure to suit your every need. Depending on the selection, these baskets can be shipped right to your door.
Breads	The Village Corner Bakery offers two lines of breads - hearty and sweet breads. Both are baked fresh in our own bakery. Our hearty breads include such varieties as rye, sourdough, fiberfit, marble and others. They're great compliments to sandwiches, soups, dips and other hearty meals. Sweet breads are delicious for breakfast. They're filling and are a great compliment to a cup of coffee, tea or glass of milk. We can also ship both varieties of bread almost anywhere.
Cakes and Tortes	We have a huge assortment of cakes and tortes. They're all baked fresh in our own bakery. Most are only available for pickup in the greater Stone Mountain and metro Atlanta area. BTW, Have you ever wondered what's the difference between a Torte and a cake? Well, tortes are basically cakes with more than 3 layers. We offer a huge assortment of tortes. Some of our tortes are seasonal.
Cheesecakes	Our huge assortment of cheesecakes are made fresh, again, in our own bakery using only the finest ingredients. We have one to please even the most discriminating tastes. Due to freshness and handling concerns, our cheesecakes are available for in-store pickup only and cannot be shipped.
Cookies, Pies and Coffee	We bake a large variety of cookies in our bakery. All guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. We also bake several varieties of pies. Some are available year round. Others are available seasonally. Some of these items can be shipped. Our coffees make you come back for more. There's no having just one cup with this brew! And, of course, this item can be shipped.
